It is binding as the maximum rate for all taxis and taxi companies within the compulsory driving area and may not be exceeded. This is ensured by calibrated taximeters installed in the taxis. How the fare is made up under the Zurich taxi rate:
The taxi tariff of Zürich is structured to help passengers understand how their fare is calculated. When you start your taxi ride in Zürich, a base fare of 6.75 CHF is charged. This amount covers the initial part of your journey as soon as you enter the taxi.
After the base fare is applied, the remaining distance you travel is charged at a rate of 3.80 CHF per kilometer. This means that for every additional kilometer during your trip, you pay this amount on top of the base fare.
If your taxi needs to wait, for example in traffic or at your request, a waiting time charge of 73.80 CHF per hour is added. This cost is calculated proportionally based on the actual waiting time during your ride.
