1. The Split Taxi Rate Explained Simply

Officially Set

The Split taxi rate was officially set on January 1, 2024. Taxi tariffs in Croatia are officially set by cities or districts. The taxi tariff Split was last set in January 2024 and published in the official tariff ordinance. It is binding for all taxis and taxi companies within the compulsory driving area and may not be exceeded or undercut. This is ensured by officially calibrated taximeters installed in the taxis.

How the fare is made up under the Split taxi rate:

The taxi tariff in Split sets out how fares are calculated for taxi journeys in the city. When you start your taxi ride, there is a base fare of 3.32€. After the journey begins, you are charged 1.86€ for every kilometre you travel. If the taxi has to wait for you, such as in traffic or at your request, there is a waiting time charge of 26.34€ per hour.

For journeys up to 6 kilometres that begin from a taxi rank, there is a minimum fare of 19.91€. This ensures that short trips have a fixed minimum price, even if the calculated fare would be less. If you are travelling further than 6 kilometres, your fare will be calculated based on the distance and waiting time as described.

Split’s taxi tariff also sets out different conditions for certain times and situations. During the winter period, from 1 November to 30 April, there is a reduced rate. In times when there is high demand, there is a surcharge that adds 0.80€ per kilometre to the distance fare.

These rules make it clear how your taxi fare is calculated in Split. The total cost will reflect the base fare, the distance travelled, any time spent waiting, and any applicable minimum fares or surcharges.
