Officially Set

The Shenzhen taxi rate was officially set on July 1, 2022. Taxi tariffs in China are officially set by cities or districts. The taxi tariff Shenzhen was last set in July 2022 and published in the official tariff ordinance. It is binding for all taxis and taxi companies within the compulsory driving area and may not be exceeded or undercut. This is ensured by officially calibrated taximeters installed in the taxis.

How the fare is made up under the Shenzhen taxi rate:

The Shenzhen taxi tariff is designed to offer clear and predictable rates for passengers. The fare depends on the time of day, with different daytime and nighttime pricing.

During the day, from 6:00 am to 11:00 pm, each journey starts with a base fare of ¥10.00. This base fare covers the first 2.00 kilometers of your trip. After that, the next 23 kilometers are charged at ¥2.70 per kilometer. For the following 10 kilometers, the price is ¥3.51 per kilometer. If your trip continues beyond this, every additional kilometer is charged at ¥4.32. If the taxi is waiting, such as in traffic or at your request, the cost for waiting time is ¥48.00 per hour.

At night, from 11:00 pm to 6:00 am, the base fare is ¥13.00 and also covers the first 2.00 kilometers. The next 23 kilometers are charged at ¥3.51 per kilometer, followed by ¥4.56 per kilometer for the next 10 kilometers. Any distance after this is charged at ¥5.69 per kilometer. The waiting time during the night remains at ¥48.00 per hour.

When taking a taxi in Shenzhen, keep in mind that the total fare includes three main components: the base fare, the distance traveled beyond the first 2.00 kilometers, and any waiting time charges. The tariff structure is the same for all passengers and is set by the local authorities to ensure transparency and fairness.
