Officially Set

The Salzburg taxi rate was officially set on March 29, 2021. Taxi tariffs in Austria are officially set by cities or districts. The taxi tariff Salzburg was last set in March 2021 and published in the official tariff ordinance. It is binding for all taxis and taxi companies within the compulsory driving area and may not be exceeded or undercut. This is ensured by officially calibrated taximeters installed in the taxis.

How the fare is made up under the Salzburg taxi rate:

The Salzburg taxi tariff sets clear prices for taxi journeys based on the time of day. The fare is different during day and night hours. Daytime rates apply from Monday to Saturday between 6:00 and 21:00. Nighttime rates apply from Monday to Saturday, 21:00 to 6:00, and all day on Sundays.

When you start your taxi ride under the daytime tariff, the base fare is €3.90. For the first two kilometers, you are charged €2.40 per kilometer. After you have reached two kilometers, the cost for each additional kilometer is €1.70. If you are traveling at night or on Sunday, the base fare is €5.00. The rates for distance remain the same as during the day: €2.40 per kilometer for the first two kilometers, then €1.70 per kilometer for each kilometer after that.

If the taxi needs to wait for you, the waiting time is charged at €60.00 per hour, regardless of the time of day. This waiting time fee is added to your fare if the taxi is not moving but is waiting as part of your trip.

Your total price will include the base fare, the cost for the kilometers you travel, and any waiting time, depending on your journey. This system helps passengers understand exactly how their trip will be charged before and during the ride.
