The Linz taxi rate was officially set on December 1, 2022. Taxi tariffs in Austria are officially set by cities or districts. The taxi tariff Linz was last set in December 2022 and published in the official tariff ordinance. It is binding for all taxis and taxi companies within the compulsory driving area and may not be exceeded or undercut. This is ensured by officially calibrated taximeters installed in the taxis.

How the fare is made up under the Linz taxi rate:

The Linz taxi tariff sets clear rules for how taxi fares are calculated. When you start a ride, the final price is made up of a base fare, a charge for distance traveled, and possible waiting time charges. The tariff distinguishes between daytime and nighttime rates to help you understand what you will pay depending on when you travel.

From Monday to Saturday, between 6:00 and 21:00, the daytime rate applies. The base fare is €6.40, which covers the first 1.00 kilometer of your trip. After that, the next 5 kilometers are charged at €1.72 per kilometer. If your journey is longer than 6.00 kilometers, every additional kilometer costs €1.50. If the taxi needs to wait during your ride—for traffic or stops—the waiting charge is €30.00 per hour.

The nighttime rate is in effect from Monday to Saturday, 21:00 to 6:00, and all day on Sunday. At these times, the base fare is €7.20, which also includes the first 1.00 kilometer. For the next 5 kilometers, the charge is €1.90 per kilometer. For any distance beyond 6.00 kilometers, each kilometer costs €1.65. During the night or on Sundays, waiting time in traffic or during stops is charged at €33.00 per hour.

All prices are set according to the official taxi tariff of Linz. This tariff aims to make costs predictable for passengers. The total fare is calculated based on when you travel, the distance you go beyond the included kilometer, and any waiting time.
