The Lausanne taxi rate was officially set on January 1, 2024. In Switzerland, maximum taxi rates are set by the authorities of towns, municipalities or cantons. It is binding as the maximum rate for all taxis and taxi companies within the compulsory driving area and may not be exceeded. This is ensured by calibrated taximeters installed in the taxis. In Lausanne, the taxi fare includes a waiting time fee of 70.20 CHF per hour. This fee is calculated proportionally depending on how long the taxi is kept waiting during your ride.

The final fare you pay is the sum of the base fare, the distance travelled, and any waiting time charges that may apply. The total cost follows the official tariff of Lausanne and is clearly shown on the taxi meter during your trip. This helps ensure transparency and makes it easy for passengers to understand how their fare is calculated.
