1. The Gdansk Taxi Rate Explained Simply

Officially Set

The Gdansk taxi rate was officially set on January 1, 2025. In Poland, cab fares are set by the local authorities of the respective cities and municipalities. Prices can therefore vary depending on the region. The fares are usually made up of a basic fee and a price per kilometer. Official cabs are obliged to display their current fares on the rear side window on the passenger side, visible from the outside. They must also be equipped with functioning taximeters that are switched on during the journey.

How the fare is made up under the Gdansk taxi rate:

The Danzig taxi tariff sets out how passengers are charged for taxi rides. Every ride begins with a base fare of 9.00 zł, which is added to the total fare as soon as you enter the taxi. This base fare is the same at all times of the day and night.

From Monday to Saturday, between 6:00 am and 10:00 pm, each additional kilometer traveled costs 3.90 zł. If your journey takes place at night, from 10:00 pm until 6:00 am, or at any time on Sunday, the price per kilometer is 5.85 zł. This helps passengers know exactly which rate applies, based on the time and day of their journey.

There is also a charge for waiting time, which can apply when the taxi is stopped or moving very slowly. The waiting time charge is 50.00 zł per hour, regardless of the time of day or night. This means if your taxi is waiting for you, or if there is heavy traffic, this cost will be included in your fare.

All amounts for the Danzig taxi tariff are shown in PLN (zł). The fare is calculated by combining the base fare, the cost per kilometer based on when you travel, and any waiting time charges if they apply. This helps passengers understand exactly how their taxi fare is determined before and during their journey.
