1. The Crete Taxi Rate Explained Simply
Officially Set
The Crete taxi rate was officially set on August 1, 2022. Taxi tariffs in Greece are officially set by cities or districts. The taxi tariff Crete was last set in August 2022 and published in the official tariff ordinance. It is binding for all taxis and taxi companies within the compulsory driving area and may not be exceeded or undercut. This is ensured by officially calibrated taximeters installed in the taxis.
How the fare is made up under the Crete taxi rate:
The taxi tariff of Kreta provides a clear structure for calculating the cost of a ride. The fare is based on the time of day and consists of a base fare, a price per kilometer, and possible additional charges. Every taxi ride starts with a base fare of 4.00 EUR.
During the day, from 5:00 am to midnight, the base fare covers the first 2.44 kilometers. After this distance, each additional kilometer costs 0.90 EUR. If the taxi is stationary or moving very slowly, a waiting time fee of 45.00 EUR per hour applies.
At night, from midnight to 6:00 am, the base fare also starts at 4.00 EUR, but it covers a distance of 1.76 kilometers. For every additional kilometer after this, the charge is 1.25 EUR. The waiting time fee during the night remains 45.00 EUR per hour.
An extra fee of 4.00 EUR is charged for journeys that begin or end at a Greek airport. This amount is added to the total fare. The final cost of your ride will be calculated using these rules, ensuring clear and consistent pricing for all passengers.
